460 hours

CompTIA A+/Network+ or equivalent knowledge.

Required Materials:

  • Blank CD-Rs/DVDs - Plan on going through about a dozen or so.
  • There are 3 exams + exams for whichever elective you decide to take.  Students get 50% off exams.  Check the costs spreadsheet in the faq section and the bookstore for current pricing.

Recommended Materials:
Students who also use the Microsoft Press Self Paced Training Kits and the associated labs seem to have a much deeper understanding of the  material.  The bookstore can order these and will take 1-2 weeks to get in so please plan accordingly.  You may find better pricing on the internet
Description:
The gap between the MCP and MCSE has been filled by the MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) certification. Leaving out the analysis and design of infrastructure, the MCSA focuses on managing and troubleshooting system environments. The intent being that you don't always need to know how to build an infrastructure if your job only requires that you maintain it.  There are four exams to get your MCSA.

You should read MCSA vs. MCSE: Which one is right for you?
Non-enrolled students can enroll for this training using the following links:

You will also need an elective.  You can use one of the following:
MCDST
CompTIA A+ and Network+ (need both)
Security+
