Welcome

The mission of the Mountainland Applied Technology College (MATC) is to provide market-driven career and technical education to both secondary and adult students, which meets the demand by Mountainland Region employers for technically skilled workers.  This is accomplished through competency-based education and training programs, which may be long term, short term, apprenticeship, or custom designed for individual employer needs. Many of the programs are offered in an open-entry, open-exit format providing flexibility for students and employers.

Students are assisted in acquiring the basic skills necessary to succeed in these technical training programs. MATC prepares students to enter, re-enter, upgrade, or advance in the workplace, which contributes to the economic development, and improves the quality of life for Mountainland Region citizens.

The Information Technology Program helps meet the diverse needs of students with different interests and objectives. Courses encourage practical application of knowledge through hands-on activities to prepare students for career opportunities, continuing education, and globally-recognized certifications. Many of our courses are offered as a blend of in-lab work and online curriculum that is available from anywhere. Powerful Web-based resources for both students and instructors complement and extend instruction. Students are able to extend instruction with online course ware, reference materials, group collaboration and mentoring.

With support from instructors, students who are disciplined and motivated can not only earn industry recognized certifications, but will also acquire the hands on skills to be confident in competing in today's workforce. Schedules are flexible using an Open Entry / Open Exit model. However, student are required to attend class and do not have the option to come and go as they wish. Programs are self paced so students can focus and progress without the added pressure of trying to keep up with the class or wanting to move faster.
